CTET 2020 application form was released on January 24. Earlier, last date to apply online was February 24. Later, the application date was extended till March 2. After that, the deadline was extended again to March 9.

CTET result 2020 will be released by CBSE within six weeks of the conduct of the test. Candidates can access their result online from the official website by logging with their required credentials.

 

 

 

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is another national level teacher's eligibility test organized and managed by Central Board of Secondary Education. CTET is held twice a year giving maximum number of candidates a chance to begin their career in teaching profession for classes I to VIII. The candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria to get selected for the selection procedure and this include minimum age 17 years with equivalent secondary or graduate degree (depending on the post applying for) from a recognized institution. CTET is a two-stage examination pattern followed by interview and certification round to complete the selection procedure for teachers in government schools across the country.

List of Examination Cities where the CTET will be conducted is given in Appendix-Ill. Candidates are required to give Four Different Options in order of their preference.

While every effort will be made to allot a Centre in one of the places opted by the candidate, the Board reserves its discretion to allot a Centre other than that of Candidate’s choice anywhere in India.

In case the number of candidates in any of the notified City is very less for running the Exam Centre or any other specific reason, the Board at its discretion may not conduct the Exam in that City and the Candidate who opted that city as 1st Choice may be allotted Exam Centres in other city opted as 2nd or 3rd or 4thchoice or any other city.

CTET Registeration Process

Registration Procedure

Authentication Form

Fill details like State, Identification type (select any Identity as applicable), Candidate’s Name, Date of Birth and Gender.

Fill Online Application Form

Fill complete online Application Form and choose a password. After submission, a Registration Number/Application Number gets generated. Note down the Registration No./Application No. For subsequent login, system generated Registration No. / Application No. and chosen Password will be used.

Online Submission

Candidates can apply ‘Online’ through CTET website www.ctet.nic.in. The candidate should supply all details while filling the Online Form and upload their scanned images of latest photograph & signature. After successful submission of data and requisite fee Candidates are required to take printout of Confirmation Page.

CTET Marking Scheme for Paper-I

One mark is awarded for every correct answer in the exam. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers in the exam. 

Nature & Standard of Questions in CTET Paper-I

Questions in paper-I are based on topics prescribed in NCERT syllabus for classes I-V. However, the difficulty level of questions can be upto secondary level.

  • Questions in Child Development and Pedagogy subject of paper-I focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years
  • Questions in Language-I focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction 
  • Questions in Language-II focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities. It may be noted that language-II should be different than language-I. Candidates need to choose any one language as language-I and other as language-II from the options available in the table below:

Qualifying Marks & Award of CTET Certificate

A person who scores 60% or more in the TET exam will be considered as TET pass.

School managements (Govt., local bodies, government aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to persons belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently abled persons, etc.in accordance with their extant reservation policy.

Qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.

 

Validity Period of CTET Certificate

The Validity Period of CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of the result for all categories. There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate.

A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her Score.

CTET Marking Scheme for Paper-II

Similar to the marking scheme for paper-I, candidates are awarded one mark for every correct answer in the exam. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. 

Nature & Standard of Questions in CTET Paper-II

Questions in paper-II are based on topics prescribed in NCERT syllabus for classes VI-VIII. However, the difficulty level of questions could be upto senior secondary level.

  • Questions in Child Development and Pedagogy subject of paper-II focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 11-14 years
  • Questions in Language-I focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction

CTET 2020 OMR Sheet Use

Since CTET is conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper based test, all candidates are given an Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet at the time of exam, which they need to fill to mark all the correct answers in the test. Check out some quick instructions for using the CTET 2020 OMR sheet at the time of the exam below:

  • The OMR sheet will be placed inside a sealed test booklet. Candidates should take out the sheet from the booklet after the announcement from the exam invigilator.
  • The code (A, B, C or D) printed on the OMR sheet will be the same as printed on the test booklet
  • Candidates should not fold, write or leave any stray mark on the OMR sheet, Candidates should only write their roll number in the space provided on the OMR sheet.
  • Candidates should fill all particulars in side-1 of the OMR sheet accurately with balck/blue ball point pen only. Particulars to be filled in side-1 of the OMR sheet are name, father's name, roll number, centre name, centre number and subject chosen in paper-II (if applicable).
  • Along with side-1, candidates also need to fill all particulars in side-2 of the OMR sheet. Candidates should fill the particulars accurately with balck/blue ball point pen only. Particulars to be filled in side-2 of the OMR sheet are roll number, main test booklet number, language supplement booklet number, language supplement booklet code, subject chosen in paper-II (if applicable), language in which the questions are attempted and signature.

Eligibility Criteria for CTET 2020

 

Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V

Primary Stage Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

"Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)” “(a) who has acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two year of such appointment as primary teacher".

Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII : Elementary Stage

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Moreover, as per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.

Note

Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/ Differently abled.

Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education

For the purposes of this Notification, a Diploma/ Degree course in teacher education recognized by the NCTE only shall be considered. However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.ED. (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered.

Training to be Undergone

A person with D.Ed. (Special Education) or similar qualification shall undergo, after appointment an NCTE recognized 6-month Special Program in Elementary Education.

A person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE

The candidates may download Admit Card from CTET official website only and appear for the exam at the given Centre. In case of any discrepancy noticed in admit card regarding particulars of candidate, photograph and signature or any other information vary from confirmation page, he/she may immediately contact CTET unit for necessary corrections.

In case the confirmation page is not generated after depositing the requisite fees, the candidate should approach the Joint Secretary (CTET), CTET Unit.

The candidates shall report at the Exam Centre 90 minutes before the commencement of the exam. Candidate report at the exam centre after 9:30 AM shall not be allowed to sit in Paper-I and candidate report after 2:00 PM shall not be allowed to sit in Paper-II
