IBPS PO 2020 Selection Process

Following stages are involved in the selection procedure of IBPS PO –

  • Preliminary Exam: - The preliminary exam is of qualifying in nature, marks of prelims won't be added for the final selection. Only you have to secure minimum qualifying marks in each subject to be qualified for the next stage of selection.
  • Mains Exam: - If you are able to score the minimum & the overall cut off in this stage, then only you will be called for the last stage of selection. Marks of this stage will be considered for the final selection.
  • Interview: - Interview is face to face round, where you will be asked questions directly by the panel members and will be shortlisted for the final selection accordingly.

IBPS PO 2020 Eligibility

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria - 2020

Educational Qualification:

The eligibility criteria for the IBPS CWE PO exam is a Graduation Degree in any of the streams such as BA, B.Com, BSc, B.Tech, etc., from a University recognized by the Government of India. The percentage of marks obtained in Graduation should be mentioned at the time of registration for the IBPS Bank-PO examination.

Computer Literacy

Knowledge of computer operation is a must as the IBPS PO exam is conducted online.

Language Proficiency

Candidates should have verbal and written proficiency in the official language of the State/UT. The candidate should be able to read, write and speak the language.

Nationality / Citizenship of Applicants:

Candidates applying for IBPS CWE/Bank PO Examination should be one of the following:

  • Citizen of India
  • The subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  • Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
  • Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India

Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India in their favor.

IBPS PO 2020 Exam Pattern

IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2020

IBPS introduced separate sectional timing for each section in the preliminary exam. The IBPS PO exam (CWE 9) for hiring candidates will be based on an online written exam in two parts: Tier 1 or IBPS Preliminary Exam and Tier 2 or IBPS Mains Exam. This examination is followed by a face-to-face interview process.

 

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The IBPS PO preliminary examination is of one-hour duration and is conducted online. It has 3 sections with having 100 questions in total with a maximum score of 100 marks. There is negative marking in IBPS PO pre-exam as 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. Candidates must clear the sectional cut-off to qualify for the IBPS PO Main exam. IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern

The IBPO PO Mains exam is held online, it has 4 sections having a total score of 200 marks of 180 minutes duration and descriptive paper 1 sections having a total score of 25 marks of 30 minutes duration.

The IBPS exam will have 5 sections and the time limit for attempting each of the five sections is different, but the total time duration is 180 minutes for objective and 30 minutes for descriptive. The candidates must attempt the sections in the same order and within the allotted time fixed by the examining body. The candidate can’t leave the existing section before the time allotted. The next section can only be attempted after the current section is completed. There is a negative marking with a deduction of 0.25 marks for every mistake.

Penalty for Wrong Answers

A penalty for every incorrect answer will be marked in the Objective Tests of both Preliminary and Mains exams. Every wrong answer will be penalized by deducting 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question. There will be no penalty for leaving a question blank, i.e. in case, no answer is marked by the candidate.

Descriptive Test Pattern

The descriptive test for IBPS PO Mains includes two sections, these will carry a total of 25 marks under 30 minutes to attempt:

  • Letter Writing: You can ask to write the formal, semi-formal or informal letter based on general topics, current affairs & banking awareness.
  • Essay Writing: Essay writing basically is a long article that can be asked on any random topic, especially on the topics related to current affairs/issues, or the issues that are bringing everybody’s attention lately. IBPS PO 2020 Interview

IBPS PO 2020 Interview

The candidates who have qualified the mains exam will be called for an interview which will carry 100 marks. To qualify for the interview a candidate is required to score 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).

The interview round is conducted for not less than 15-20 minutes. It has a panel of bank officials who will raise questions to the candidates concerned themselves, banking sector, current affairs, general awareness, etc. The candidates must be well-dressed, confident and carry all required documents to the interview.

The merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the main examination and interview. IBPS works out the final score with the weightage of marks given to the main examination and interview in the ratio of 80:20 respectively.
