International Albinism Awareness Day is observed by the United Nations on June 13 every year. The day represents the importance and celebration of human rights of people with albinism.

• The United Nations Human Rights Council adopted this resolution and put its firm foot down for the prevention of attacks and discrimination against people with albinism.
• The theme for International Albinism Awareness Day 2022 is “United in making our voice heard”. According to the United Nations, the theme was chosen because including voices of persons with albinism is essential to ensure equality. 

Google Sr. Engineer, Blake Lemonie suspended – working on testing Google LaMDA – post revelation that the AI has sentiment and claimed to pass the famous turing test.

According to Blake Lemonie, AI chatbot has come to life and is thinking and responding like a human being.

The software engineer published a blog post labelling LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) as a person after having conversations with the AI bot on the subjects such as consciousness, religion, and robotics.

After a total lunar eclipse, the Moon is set for another celestial event as the supermoon takes to the skies across the world on Tuesday(14-06-2022) . The full moon is known by different names across the world, including the Strawberry Supermoon, the Mead, Honey, or Rose Moon.

The second of the four consecutive supermoons will brighten the skies on June 14. The supermoon is the full moon of the month that coincides with the moon at or near perigee, its closest point to the Earth in its monthly orbit. The June Full Moon 2022 will also be the lowest full moon of this year.

The United Nations observes June 12 each year as the ‘World Day Against Child Labour’ to bring attention to the evil practices of child labour across the world.

• The International Labour Organisation launched this day in 2002 to tackle this global issue against child labour.
• Theme: “Universal Social Protection to End Child Labour”.
• 160 million children are still engaged in child labour – some as young as five.
• At the beginning of 2020, one in ten children aged five and over were involved in child labour worldwide.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has launched “Start-Ups for Railways” in New Delhi.This Start-Ups policy aims to leverage innovative technologies developed by Indian Start Ups, MSMEs, Innovators and Entrepreneurs to improve operational efficiency and safety of Indian Railways.

• The policy which is a part of Indian Railways Innovation Programme, will bring scale and efficiency in the field of operation, maintenance and infrastructure creation through participation of very large and untapped Start- Up ecosystem.
• Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vaishnaw said, through this platform, start-ups will get a good opportunity to connect with Railways. He said, out of over 100 problem statements received from different divisions, field offices or zones of Railways, 11 problem statements like rail fracture and headway reduction have been taken up for phase 1 of this programme. The Minister said, these will be presented before the start ups to find innovative solutions.

Recently, China proposed a plan to launch a solar power plant in space, in order to get inexhaustible power in 2028, two years before the original schedule. China had planned to establish a solar power station of 1 megawatt capacity, in space by 2030.

• However, according to updated plan, China will launch a satellite in 2028.
• This satellite will test wireless power transmission technology from space to ground, from the height of 400 km.
• It will convert solar energy to microwaves or lasers.
• Using the lasers, energy beams will be directed to various targets, including the moving satellites and fixed locations on the Earth.
• Solar power plant will have the capacity of 10 kilowatts, which is enough to meet the needs of few households.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the last week of June 2022.

• The itinerary of PM Modi’s visit to UAE has been finalized and the visit could be part of his visit to Germany, where he will take part in the G7 Summit.
• The G7 Summit is due to take place from June 26 to 28 this year at Schloss Elmau in the Bavarian Alps.
• The visit to UAE is expected to help reaffirm India’s ties with the Gulf, particularly the UAE, amid the strong reactions from the region to the negative remarks by then BJP spokesperson about the Prophet.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will be launching a national party by this month. The move comes as a longer stride to gather opposition leaders just ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

• As per sources, the name of the new political party is expected to be 'Bharatiya Rastra Samiti'.
• Recently KCR had met several opposition leaders.
• Last month KCR held a meeting with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at the former's residence in the national capital and discussed the current national issues while he met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to visit Mohalla clinic in the national capital.

• The decision was made following discussions between the Chinese Football Association (CFA) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) - and made more than a year before the event was due to begin.
• It comes in the wake of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games' postponement which was also down to coronavirus.

Meghalaya was shocked by a magnitude 4.0 earthquake at 6:32 a.m. on Monday. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), a measure 4.0 earthquake struck at 06:32:02 IST.

• The quake occurred at L 43 kilometers east-northeast of Tura, Meghalaya.
• According to the nodal agency, the earthquake was recorded at 8.37 pm at latitude 25.33 and longitude 91.91 with a depth of 10 kilometres. The earthquake was located 19 kilometres east-northeast of Cherrapunjee and 27 kilometres of Shillong.

Members of the fishing community from several coastal areas of India protested against the World Trade Organization (WTO) proposal to curb fishery subsidies as it was not responsive to the demands of the developing nations.

A group of 34 Indian fishermen had arrived in Geneva to safeguard the interests of the Indian fisher community, which includes 5 fishermen from Gujarat, 6 from Maharashtra, 1 from Goa, 2 from Karnataka, 6 from Kerala, 5 from Tamil Nadu, 4 from Andhra Pradesh, and 5 from West Bengal. 

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju along with a 25-member delegation on 12-06-2022 left for Mongolia from Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad with four Holy Relics of Lord Buddha and said that the move will give a message of peace to the world.

• The Holy Relics will be displayed at the Batsagaan Temple within the premises of Gandan Monastery.
• The Holy Buddha Relics, currently housed in the National Museum, are known as the 'Kapilvastu Relics' since they are from a site in Bihar first discovered in 1898 which is believed to be the ancient city of Kapilvastu.
• Rijiju will be in Mongolia for an 11-day exposition of the relics as part of celebrations of the Mongolian Buddh Purnima falling on June 14.

India-Russia defence Joint Venture BrahMos Aerospace is capable of making hypersonic missiles and will be able to have its first such missile in five to six years, BrahMos Aerospace informed on 12-06-2022.

• The statement was made by Atul Rane, CEO and MD, BrahMos Aerospace while speaking at an event over the commencement of ‘Silver Jubilee Celebration’ to mark the journey of India’s most successful military partnership programmes.
• Starting on June 12 to mark the 21 glorious years of the maiden supersonic launch of unbeatable BrahMos, the ‘Silver Jubilee Year’ celebrations will culminate on February 12, 2023.
• BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile has been successfully operationlised in all the three services of the Indian Armed Forces.
