The 7th Ayurveda Day is going to be celebrated worldwide on 23rd October 2022 at a grand scale. Dhanawantari Jayanti has been celebrated since 2016 as Ayurveda Day to promote our most ancient and well documented system of medicine.

• The main event will be held at Vigyan Bhawan, in New Delhi and various programs will be organized across the country with support of other ministries as a whole government approach.
• This year Indian missions/Embassies will also organize programs in their respective countries.
• This year’s Ayurveda Day is being celebrated with the theme “Har Din Har Ghar Ayurveda” so as to propagate benefits of Ayurveda to larger and grass root community. 

The One Health Joint Plan of Action (OH JPA) was unveiled by the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and World Organisation for Animal Health.

• The Joint Plan of Action aims to integrate systems and boost capacity to collectively prevent, predict, detect and respond to the global health crisis.
• This is the first-of-its-kind plan that seeks to implement One Health Approach at all levels.
• It will enhance the health of humans, animals, plants, and the environment and promote sustainable development.
• It will address challenges such as ecosystem degradation, food system failures, infectious diseases, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
• The action plan will be implemented from 2022 to 2026 to address health challenges at the international, regional, and national levels.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has imposed a penalty on Google for abusing its dominance in the Android mobile device ecosystem.

• The CCI found that Google abused its dominant positions via online search and app store to protect its apps like Chrome and YouTube in mobile web browsers and online video hosting.
• Hence, the competition watchdog imposed a fine of Rs 1,337.76 crore on the tech giant.
• In 2018, the European Union imposed a penalty of 4.34 billion euros (around Rs 35,541 crore) on Google for the same reason. However, it was later cut to 4.125 billion euros (approximately Rs 33,296 crore).
• The EU had fined the tech giant a total of 8.25 billion euros (around Rs 66,600 crore) for anti-trust violations after 3 investigations that lasted for over 10 years.
• 97 per cent of 600 million smartphones in India are powered by the android operating system. This makes the country Google’s largest market by users.

The Tiger Triumph exercise was jointly conducted by the United States and Indian militaries in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

• Tiger Triumph exercise sought to improve interoperability between India and the US and create a multinational command and control model for humanitarian assistance in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
• Its objective was to streamline diplomatic, operational, and logistical coordination between the two countries while responding to disasters.
• 50 individuals from India and the United States took part in this exercise.
• The 2022 edition of the Tiger Triumph exercise is the second joint exercise between India and the US focusing on disaster relief.

"Agni Prime” ballistic missile was successfully tested off the coast of Odisha recently.

• The recent test is the third consecutive test flight of the Agni Prime missile. It marks the completion of development trial.
• It confirmed the accuracy and reliability of the indigenous missile system.
• The first flight test of the Agni Prime was conducted in June 2021, with the second one taking place six months later in December.
• These two tests also saw the missile successfully meeting the mission objectives with high level of accuracy.
• With these successful tests, the missile will now be put into user trials by the Strategic Nuclear Command, which is responsible for the management and administration of India’s tactical and strategic nuclear weapon stockpile.
• After these trials are completed, Agni-P will be officially inducted into the Strategic Forces Command arsenal.
• Once inducted, this missile will become a key asset in India’s nuclear deterrence with range of 1,000 to 2,000 km.

Three Great Indian Bustards were spotted in Pakistan’s Cholistan desert.

• The recent sighting of Great Indian Bustards (GIBs) in the Cholistan desert led to the speculation that these species have migrated from Desert National Park (DNP) in Rajasthan, India.
• The three GIBs were spotted in the Cholistan game reserve in the southern part of Punjab province.
• The migration may have taken place because of the shrinking habitat in DNB.
• GIBs are critically endangered in Pakistan because of the absence of protective measures and rampant hunting by poachers.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recently announced that it will take off Pakistan from its grey list.

• The FATF announced that it will remove Pakistan from the “grey list” of countries because of the country’s significant progress in strengthening legal and government mechanisms and enhancing the monitoring capacity.
• This came as a result of the recent plenary session that was held from October 20 to 21 this year.
• During the session, the FATF members, including India, reviewed the record of 26 countries and unanimously decided to remove Pakistan from the grey list.
• The FATF added The Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique and Tanzania in the Grey List and moved Myanmar from the grey list to the black list because of the actions taken by the military junta since the coup e’tat took place in February 2021.
• A country is placed in the FATF grey list to enhance monitoring to check its progress on measures combating money laundering and terror financing.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has placed Myanmar on its “blacklist” of countries that do not comply with international anti-money-laundering standards.

• The FATF took the decision to issue what it describes as a “call for action” at a plenary session in Paris, held on October 20 and 21.
• The move could severely impair Myanmar’s ability to participate in international financial transactions.
• Myanmar becomes only the third country on the blacklist, after Iran and North Korea. 

A special initiative has been started in Ernakulam district of Kerala to teach the lesson of honesty to the students.

• Seven schools in Ernakulam have organized Student Police Cadet (SPC), Kerala Police Under this initiative, ‘Honesty Shops’ have been opened in their campus. 
• These stores will have a variety of stationery items.
• However, there will be no shopkeeper at these stores to collect money from the customer.
• Even when school students shop there, there will be no system to keep an eye on them.
