India assumed the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on December 1, 2022, for the month of December.

• It is the second time in its two-year tenure as an elected member of the UN Security Council in 2021-22 that India has assumed the Presidency of the Council.
• India had earlier assumed the Presidency in August 2021.
• During India’s December Presidency, many high-level events will take place to discuss terrorism and regional security issues that the world faces in the present times.

The government of India has launched DigiYatra in three airports of the country - Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi. The launch took place on December 1, 2022.

• DigiYatra is a facial recognition tool meant to help passengers in checking in for their flights. With this tool, passengers can check in without the need for a paper boarding pass.
• The technology would enable the passengers to not just check-in, but also drop check-in bags. It should make the experience of air travel seamless for the passengers and quick. 
• DigiYatra will also be brought to other airports in the coming months. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Civil Aviation minister of India, inaugurated DigiYatra at the Delhi airport.

The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery is celebrated every year on December 2.  This day marks the date of the adoption, by the General Assembly, of the United Nations Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others (resolution 317(IV) of 2 December 1949).

• The Day is observed to raise awareness about suppression of modern forms of slavery such as human trafficking, child labor, forced labour and sexual exploitation in order to eradicate slavery today.
• In addition to the traditional forms of forced labour such as bonded labor and debt bondage, different forms of forced labor have emerged today. For example, migrant workers are trafficked from rural areas to urban areas for economic exploitation. This includes mostly the construction industry, the food and clothing industry, domestic work, agriculture and forced prostitution.

December 2 is observed as International Computer Literacy Day. It was started in 2001 by NIIT, a world-famous Indian computer firm.  

The celebration of the Day falls in this date because it marks the twentieth anniversary of NIIT.

• It is a celebration Day that goals to boom recognition of about the access of computer systems and its related era efficiently. It is crucial for any humans of any age to recognize all the simple expertise and facts approximately those techniques.
• Nations across the globe mark World Computer Literacy Day every year to generate awareness about the benefits of using computers and to encourage digital literacy.
• The theme of World Computer Literacy Day is “Literacy for human-focused recovery: Narrowing the virtual divide.”

National Pollution Control Day 2022:  The day is celebrated every year on 2 December to bring awareness about the dangers caused due to polluted water, land, and air. 

• This day also highlights how to avert industrial disasters like the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. Environmental pollution affects the quality of life and health. Also, the role that we are playing in the growing rate of pollution.
• The main objective is to make people aware, and spread awareness in the industries that cause various pollution like water, air, soil, and noise and affect the environment and obviously health. 

Indian Army's Sudarshan Chakra Troops, carried out Exercise Sudarshan Prahar in the deserts of Rajasthan. Shahbaaz Division of Sudarshan Chakra Corps conducted the exercise.

• The exercise focused on the use of combat power through the integration of force multipliers and learning new battle techniques and procedures.
• GOC-in-C Southern Command, Lt Gen AK Singh along with his formation commanders witnessed the exercise and encouraged troops for their high training standards.

Prasanth Kumar, CEO, South Asia of GroupM Media (India) Pvt Ltd, has been elected as the President of the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) for fiscal 2022-23 .

• With over 25 years of experience working across the industry, Kumar is a GroupM veteran.
• Before joining GroupM, he held positions at Pepsi, The Hindu, The Media Edge, and McCann Erickson. Additionally, he served as AAAI's vice president from 2020 to 2022.
• Rana Barua, Group CEO of Havas Group India  was unanimously elected Vice-President of the Association. Immediate Past President, Anupriya Acharya will be the ex-officio member of the AAAI Board for 2022-23.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in partnership with Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Government of Goa is organizing the International Lusophone Festival in Goa from 3-6 December 2022. The festival seeks to further India's connect with the Lusophone world.

• The International Lusophone Festival will be inaugurated on December 3 by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan. Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meekakshi Lekhi will be the guest of honour.
• The festival will include performances by visiting cultural troupes from the CPLP countries (approximately 70 artistes) at several venues in Goa namely ESG complex, Azad Maidan, Sanskruti Bhavan, Institute Menezes Braganza among others. 

President of India Droupadi Murmu is set to launch the “Open Loop Ticketing System” for the Haryana State Transport Corporation on the occasion of Gita Mahotsav 2022 in Kurukshetra. This will make Haryana the first state to introduce the open-loop ticketing system for roadways buses.

• The open-loop ticketing system aims to help commuters to do away with buying physical tickets for roadways buses.
• The entire system includes the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) issued by AU Small Finance Bank, Electronic Tickets Issuing Machines (ETIMs), a GPS System, and Online Reservation System for advance booking of tickets.
• The AU Small Finance Bank will be providing the ETIMs and ticket payment transaction capability through cash, QR code or UPI.
• The open-loop ticketing system will initially be launched for bus routes originating from 6 districts – Faridabad, Chandigarh, Karnal, Sonipat, Bhiwani, and Sirsa.
