Indian Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated annually on 7 December to honor the martyrs, veterans, war-disabled soldiers, Veer Naris, and others who have made a magnificent contribution while serving the nation.

• On this day many activities are held by Indian armed services to raise funds and donations, and show the people how their brave soldiers protect the nation while keeping their lives at stake. 
• The Ministry of Defence officially declared 7 December as Indian Armed Forces Flag Day, On 28 August 1949.

United Arab Emirates' Mohammed Al Ramsi has been appointed Chairman of World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC 23). The event is being held in Dubai, UAE, from November 20th to December 15th, 2023.

• Al-Ramsi said that he felt great responsibility and was confident that he would succeed in this endeavor.
• He added that the UAE was a key advocate for international cooperation and an influential contributor to achieving development goals.
• WRC is organised by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) every four years to revise the global use of radio-frequency spectrum, geostationary-satellite and non-geostationary-satellite orbits.
• This year, more than 4,000 government officials and 900 international organisations from 193 countries are attending the conference.

Prashant Agrawal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan, was honoured with the prestigious National Award for 'Best Personality- Empowerment of Differently-abled' by President Draupadi Murmu at a ceremony organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Dehradun on Friday (8 December 2023) for the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit 2023,’ as announced by the Prime Minister’s Office.

• The summit, themed “Peace to Prosperity,” is aimed at positioning Uttarakhand as a promising investment destination.
• The inauguration event, scheduled at the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun, will witness Prime Minister Modi addressing the gathering.
• The summit, spanning two days, anticipates the participation of 5000 investors and delegates from around the world. Union Ministers, Ambassadors, and prominent industrialists are expected to join the event.

Google’s most capable, flexible, and general AI model, Gemini will be available to users across the world from Wednesday(6 December 2023). It will be integrated into Bard as well as the latest Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. 

• Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Gemini 1.0 is optimised for different sizes: Ultra, Pro, and Nano.
• This new era of models represents one of the biggest science and engineering efforts we’ve undertaken as a company,” Pichai said in his note.  
• The result of large-scale collaborative efforts by teams across Google, including at Google Research, Gemini was built to be multimodal and hence can “generalise and seamlessly understand, operate across and combine different types of information including text, code, audio, image and video”.
• In one of the demos, Google showcased how Gemini can see like a human eye, understand and evaluate in real-time and suggest the next course of action. 

The list of 100 most powerful women in the world was released by Forbes on December 5 where 4 Indian women bagged a spot. The list is a sequel to the series of annual ranking list that awards definitive ranking to the most inspirational females. 

• European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, 65, tops the list, for the second consecutive year. 
• European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, 67, ranks number two on the list.
• The Indian woman who takes the highest spot is Finance Minister and Minister of Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, who ranks 32. Her rankings improved as compared to last year when she occupied 36th place.
• Indian billionaire and philanthropist, Roshni Nadar Malhotra occupied 60th rank who is the first Indian woman to lead a listed IT company in India. Daughter of HCL founder Shiv Nadar, she is recognised as the richest woman in India as per IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List (2019).
• Chairperson of the Steel Authority of India, Soma Mondal ranks 70. She was honoured with 'CEO of the Year' award at the ETPrime Women Leadership Awards that took place this year.
• Renowned Indian billionaire entrepreneur, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw secured 76th rank in the list. Biocon Limited and Biocon Biologics Limited in Bangalore are founded and run by by her. She has also served as former chairperson of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

Samir Shah, British-Indian has been picked by the U.K.Government to head the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as its next chair.

• Samir Shah, a 71-year-old former BBC non-executive director and media executive, was born in Aurangabad and moved to the U.K. in 1960.
• He will head the public broadcaster as it faces questions over its independence and financial challenges with the renewal of its charter.
• The previous BBC chair, Richard Sharp, stepped down in June over his failure to disclose that he had helped arrange a £800,000 loan to former U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The BBC Chair’s duties include overseeing the independence of the organisation.
• Mr Shah, who has worked in media for over four decades and currently runs and owns Juniper TV, a media company, has connections to the Conservative Party.
• Mr Shah will take over the reins of the Board as the BBC is facing £500 million in cost-cutting with higher costs and a two year freeze on its licensing fee, which constitutes most of its funding.
