Key Points:

Record Production: In the fiscal year 2024-25, Indian Railways manufactured 1,681 locomotives, marking a 19% increase from the 1,472 units produced in the previous year. 

Global Leadership: This production volume exceeds the combined locomotive output of the US, Europe, South America, Africa, and Australia, positioning India as a global leader in this sector. 

Historical Comparison: Between 2004 and 2014, India produced a total of 4,695 locomotives, averaging 470 annually. In contrast, from 2014 to 2024, production surged to 9,168 units, with an annual average of approximately 917, reflecting substantial growth. ?
