Why in news:

• The state government of Haryana has announced that it has completed the process of implementing property ID across the state.

Key Points:

• With this, Haryana has become the first state in the country to implement property ID in the entire state.
• Haryana’s Urban Local Bodies Minister Dr. Kamal Gupta has made the claim that Haryana has completed the process of implementing Property ID across the state and in the process, has become first state in the country to achieve the feat. In this regard, the concerned state government officials have further pointed out that the state’s creation of New Property-ID under Normal and Tatkal Scheme has received appreciation from the centre government and the centre has suggested other states to adopt the scheme.
• Delineating the contours of the scheme, the state government officials have underlined that 34 lakh properties in the state falling inside Lal Dora have been integrated into the scheme and a new Property IDs have been allocated to the concerned owners. As per the provisions of the scheme, now the registry can automatically upload property ID data on the state government portal. The new scheme also envisages enhancing communication between state authorities and citizens through technology based interventions. In this regard, now any information related to property can be sent by the urban local bodies to the residents through mode of SMS.
• As far as setting things in order is concerned, under the scheme, so far, out of 2274 unauthorized colonies, 494 have been authorized and work on other unauthorized colonies is going on. In this regard, the state government officials have envisaged that around 850 colonies will be authorized by January 31, 2024.
