India has taken over the Chairmanship of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) for the year 2025–26 during the 67th Governing Body Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Indian delegation was led by Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), and APO Director for India. India’s leadership is set to focus on productivity-led development, sustainability, and innovation across the Asia-Pacific region.

• India will lead the APO’s strategic agenda with a focus on innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, and inclusive productivity growth during its tenure.
• India reaffirmed support for the APO Vision 2030 and the Green Productivity 2.0 framework to align productivity goals with environmental sustainability.
• Over 100 Indian professionals annually participate in APO’s capacity-building initiatives through the National Productivity Council under DPIIT.
• India has implemented several APO demonstration projects in MSMEs, showcasing green productivity and Industry 4.0 applications.
• The APO, established in 1961 and headquartered in Tokyo, is an intergovernmental body with 21 member countries working to enhance productivity in the Asia-Pacific region.
