The government has appointed IAS officer Anuradha Thakur as a part-time member of SEBI’s board, replacing Ajay Seth, effective June?16, 2025. She will also take charge as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, from July?1. Meanwhile, the RBI board is also expected to receive a fresh government notification soon.

• She will succeed Ajay Seth, who retires as Economic Affairs Secretary on June?30, and assumes the Secretary role from July?1, 2025 .
• The SEBI board includes three ex-officio part-time members: the RBI Deputy Governor, Economic Affairs Secretary, and Corporate Affairs 
• The government is expected to issue a similar notification soon appointing a board member to the RBI as well .
