  • Bhai Mardana was born in 1459 in Rai Bhoi di Talwandi, now known as Nankana Sahib in Pakistan. He belonged to a Mirasi Muslim family and was the seventh child of Badra and Lakkho; his siblings had all died at birth.
  • Mardana's early life was marked by a passion for music, particularly as a rabab player, which he used to accompany Guru Nanak Dev Ji during spiritual journeys and kirtans (devotional singing).
