The central government on Saturday( 1 March 2025) assigned Ajay Seth, the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), the additional charge of Secretary for the Department of Revenue.

The appointment comes days after Tuhin Kanta Pandey, the incumbent revenue secretary, was announced as the chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India.

Seth is a 1987 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre and has been the secretary in the department of economic affairs since April 2021.
