Martyrs’ Day is commemorated on January 30 to honour our freedom fighter who laid thier liives for freedom. 

• This marks the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated on this date in 1948 by Nathuram Godse.
• Gandhi was a very important figure in India’s struggle for independence, advocating for non-violence against British rule. His assassination occurred while he was on his way to a prayer meeting in Delhi.
• Martyrs’ Day or Shaheed Divas is also commemorated on March 23 to remember the sacrifice of three extraordinary revolutionaries of India - Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, Sukhdev Thapar.
