Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his good wishes to Mr. Duma Boko on his election as the President of Botswana. 

• Duma Boko, the presidential candidate of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), was declared as Botswana’s sixth President on Friday ( 1 November 2024).
• Botswana’s Chief Justice Terence Rannowane made the announcement on national television in Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana.
• Duma Gideon Boko (born 31 December 1969) is a Botswana politician and lawyer currently serving as President of Botswana since 1 November 2024 and as leader of the Umbrella for Democratic Change since 2012.
• He served as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly from 2014 to 2019.
