• The state government of Haryana has passed the Haryana Registration and Regulation of Private Coaching Institutes Bill, 2024, which mandates the compulsory registration of private coaching institutes with the state government, with stringent penalties for non-compliance and misleading advertisements. This bill aims to regulate coaching centers, ensuring transparency and student welfare, while addressing the rising competition and proliferation of such institutes in Haryana.

Key Points:

• According to the Bill, it is now compulsory for all private coaching institutes to register with the state government. Institutes failing to comply with this directive will face substantial penalties, which can amount to as much as Rs 1 lakh.
• The Bill has been introduced with the primary aim of registering and regulating private coaching institutes that provide coaching for competitive examinations, higher studies, jobs, and professional courses.
• The concerned officials of the state education department in this regard, highlighted that the Bill addresses issues of misleading advertisements often used by these institutes to attract students. Penalties for such deceptive practices can reach up to Rs 1 lakh.
• The enforcement of this Act will be overseen by an authority led by the deputy commissioner in each district, which will include the district's Superintendent of Police (SP) and education department officers.
