Preetismita Bhoi smashes world record, wins gold at World Youth Championships

Indian weightlifter Preetismita Bhoi made headlines by smashing the youth clean and jerk world record in the women's 40kg category, earning a gold medal at the IWF World Youth Championships.

The 15-year-old eclipsed the previous record of 75kg by lifting 76kg on Wednesday. In addition to her record-breaking performance,

Bhoi lifted 57kg in the snatch, accumulating a total of 133kg. She narrowly missed the youth world standard by just 2kg on the very first day of the competition.
