Love Kumar, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has been designated as the Special Protection Group (SPG) Inspector General (IG) for a two-year term. 

• This recommendation from the Cabinet Secretariat's Office of the Secretary (Security) has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
• Love Kumar is an Uttar Pradesh cadre IPS, born in 2004.
• He was appointed to the IG role by temporarily upgrading his present rank, which he now holds as a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the SPG.
• In addition to Love Kumar's appointment, Umesh Chander Datta (IPS) has been named as the Inspector General of Police (SPG) for a term of two years from the date of taking over the position until further directives, whichever comes first, according to the DoPT statement.
