The 17th Dance Festival of The Music Academy in Chennai, a prestigious event in the world of classical dance, took an emotional turn as the esteemed ‘Nritya Kalanidhi’ award was conferred upon the renowned dancer and choreographer, Vasanthalakshmi Narasimhachari.
The award, presented on January 3rd, was an acknowledgment of Narasimhachari’s significant contributions to the art form, both as a performer and a tutor.

The award was presented by Edgar Pang Tze Chiang, the Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore in Chennai, acknowledging not only Narasimhachari’s virtuosity in dance but also her role as a dance tutor in the Singapore Fine Arts Society during the 1970s.
