India-Kyrgyzstan Joint Special Forces Exercise Khanjar

The 11th edition of the India-Kyrgyzstan Joint Special Forces Exercise Khanjar, has commenced at the Special Forces Training School in Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh.  

  • Scheduled from January 22 to February 3, 2024, this annual event is a significant symbol of military cooperation between the two nations.
  • The exercise is being attended by 20 personnel from the elite Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) of the Indian Army and an equal contingent from Kyrgyzstan's Scorpion Brigade.
  • According to information shared by India’s Ministry of Defence, the primary aim of Exercise Khanjar is to facilitate an exchange of experiences and best practices in counter-terrorism and Special Forces operations, especially in challenging environments such as built-up areas and mountainous terrain.
  • This aligns with Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, highlighting the exercise's global significance. Participants will focus on honing Special Forces skills, emphasizing advanced techniques of insertion and extraction, crucial in modern warfare.
