Former Nagaland governor Padmanabha Acharya passes away

Former Governor of Nagaland Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, who was also known as PB Acharya passed away, early in the morning, today at his residence in Mumbai. He was 92 and had reportedly passed away due to old age illness. 

  • The Udupi district native had served as the 18th Governor of Nagaland from July 2014 to July 2019.
  • Late Acharya also served Governor of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. As a BJP Party worker, he was incharge of the Northeast from 1990s. 
  • He laid to rest after a funeral service held in the evening in Mumbai. Leaders, individuals and the community of Nagaland has mourned the demise of the former Governor. 
  • Chief Minister of Nagaland in a condolence message expressed shock and sadness over the demise of PB Acharya whom, the CM said he had the distinction of serving with three Chief Ministers of Nagaland, and having excellent rapport with all of them.
