India to celebrate National Space Day on August 23

Marking the successful landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the moon’s south pole, the Union cabinet on Tuesday announced August 23 will be celebrated as ‘National Space Day’. 

  •  The cabinet endures this historical achievement by the scientists of our nation. Welcoming this move, the cabinet has approved 23 August to be celebrated National Space Day. 
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the point at which Chandrayaan-3 lander Vikram soft-landed will be named ‘Shiv Shakti’, while the point Chandrayaan-2 lander impacted will be called ‘Tiranga’.
  • He made the announcement at the Isro Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (Istrac) here, arriving straight from Greece.
