Global Wind Day 2023

Global Wind Day is a worldwide event celebrated annually on June 15th to promote the use of wind energy and raise awareness about its potential in combating climate change and transitioning to clean and sustainable sources of power.

  • The aim was to bring together wind energy industry stakeholders, environmental organizations, policymakers, and the general public to showcase the advancements in wind power technology and raise awareness about its positive impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change.
  • Global Wind Day does not have a specific theme associated with it. However, the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) organize various events and activities to emphasize the significance of wind energy.
  • The focus of these celebrations is to raise awareness about wind power as a viable alternative source of energy.
  • Global Wind Day has its roots in Europe and was first established on 15th June 2007 by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), now known as WindEurope, and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
