World Food Safety Day is celebrated on June 7 every year to draw attention and inspire action to help and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism and sustainable development.
- The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) jointly facilitate the observance of World Food Safety Day, in collaboration with Member States and other relevant organizations.
- The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) together designated this day in 2018. The first observance of World Food Safety Day took place on June 7, 2019, with the theme "Food Safety, Everyone's Business."
- World Food Safety Day theme 2023 is “Food Standards Save Lives”.
