World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 , with the aim of raising awareness among the world population about the importance of caring for our ecosystems and promoting respect for the environment.  World Environment Day 2023 is hosted by Côte d’Ivoire and supported by the Netherlands.

• World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly during the momentous Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment in 1972. 
• The theme for World Environment Day 2023 is “ Beat Plastic Pollution” shared with the social media hashtag #BeatPlasticPollution. 
• In 2023 the World Environment Day campaign has the slogan: “No pollution by plastics” .
