Former cricketer Salim Durani passes away at the age of 88
Salim Durani, the debonair India cricketer of the 1960s with a movie star looks, a puckish sense of humour, and a penchant for hitting monstrous sixes on demand, died. Durani played 29 Tests for India from 1960 to 1973, scoring 1,202 runs at an average of 25.04, with one century (104 against West Indies in 1962) and seven fifties. As a left-arm spinner, he claimed 75 wickets at 35.42 apiece.

  • His death was confirmed by sources close to the family.
  • He had been living with his younger brother, Jahangir Durani, in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
