The Attukal Pongala festival that returned after three Covid-hit years was celebrated in all its glory this time on Tuesday.

• Considered one of the largest women's gatherings in the world, around 15 lakh women participated in the festival. Heavy travel restrictions were in place in Thiruvananthapuram in view of the festival.
• The festival includes offering Pongala, a sweet delicacy made of rice to the deity of Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram.
