Every year World Senior Citizen’s Day is celebrated on August 21 to highlight the contribution of elderly individuals to humankind.

• The day is dedicated to the work done by the senior citizens towards our society. The services they have provided throughout their lives for the nation's development.
• Countries that are less developed have also participated in creating an environment that supports the social well-being of elderly people.
• World Senior Citizens’ Day has its roots back in the August 19, 1988 proclamation by the then President of the United States of America, Ronald Reagan.
