PIB organises media workshop ‘Vartalap ‘

Press Information Bureau of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organised a media workshop ‘Vartalap’ on Improving Govt Information Dissemination to Local Media and further up to rural areas through media’.

Keypoints:

Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori while inaugurating the workshop as Chief Guest lauded the role of media work making people aware about various aspects of society through their writings. He said that the media is an extension of the government. It plays a crucial role for dissemination of information regarding important government schemes.
Congratulating PIB for this initiative,such workshops are helpful for media to do developmental stories for the awareness of our society about various government initiatives meant for their benefit and upliftment. The flow of proper information is very important so that people get authentic information at the ground level.
Besides achieving reasonable targets under various schemes, Jalandhar District has achieved the milestone of 100 percent functional household tap connection to all habitations under Jal Jeevan Mission. He said Ayushman Bharat Sehat Bima Yojna is a game changer scheme of the government.
Meanwhile, the four resource persons including Dy. Medical Commissioner Dr Jyoti Sharma, Distt Program Officer Gurminder Singh Randhawa, Functional Manager from DIC Manjeet Lalli and Manjinder and Rajiv, from Water Supply and Sanitation elaborately explained about Ayushman Bharat, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Employment Gurantee Programme and Jal Jeevan Mission, respectively.
The organisers of the workshop, Field Publicity Officer Rajesh Bali while speaking on ‘Changing Media Scenario due Emergence of Social Media’ called upon media friends to always double check the contents of their posts on their news portals or websites so authentic information should reach the readers. He said in this breaking news competition sometimes half-baked news creates problem for the society. He also said that there is need to know the bane and boon of social media. He also said where social media platforms are working as a bridge between distant relatives and friends besides others, it is also becoming a source of friction between families harming the social thread.
