Context:

• The government of Rajasthan has announced new employment schemes for the residents of the state and has introduced some changes in the already existing and under operation schemes which will be applicable to the residents of state.
• The state government has announced the introduction of 100-day Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Scheme for providing jobs for the urban poor.
• The government has also announced that employment under MGNREGA will be available for 125 days in the state, instead of 100 days.
• Rs 800 crore per year have been earmarked for the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Scheme.
• Employment under the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Scheme will be available for 100 days.
• In addition, the state government will bear the expenses for increasing the number of days for employment under MGNREGA from 100 to 125. It would cost the state government Rs 750 crore.
• The Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Scheme will be implemented by the state’s urban development department.
• The format of the scheme will be the same as mentioned in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. The concerned department will implement the urban employment scheme on the basis of MGNREGA.
•  The state government had earlier decided to provide 200 days of employment under MGNREGA (additional 100 days of work), to the families of Sahariya and Khairua tribes of Baran district and Kathaudi tribe of Udaipur district, and persons with disabilities (PwDS).
