Cotton is the major crop grown in the Malwa belt. Socio-culturally, the state is classified into three regions (Majha, Doaba and Malwa). Malwa region lies south of river Satluj. Eight districts of Malwa’s cotton belt Bhatinda, Mansa, Faridkot, Ferozpur, Muktsar, Moga, Barnala and Sangroor are the worst affected by Cancer. Malwa area has emerged as the epicenter of the disease and has come to be known as the cancer belt of Punjab but the Cancer is also spreading in the other parts of the state.
