• The results of India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2020 was released on June 25, 2021. The award was organised under Central Government’s Smart Cities Mission project, by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
• The Smart City awards were given across different themes, which are, Social Aspects, Governance, Culture, Urban Environment, Sanitation, Economy, Built Environment, Water, Urban Mobility.

List of Winners

• Best City Award – Indore, Madhya Pradesh and Surat, Gujarat have jointly won the Best Smart Cities award 2020 for their overall development.
• Best State Award – Uttar Pradesh has emerged as top performer among all Indian states. It is followed by Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu under the Smart City award, 2020.
• Best UT Award - Among Union Territories, Chandigarh bagged the top award.
