International Day of the Midwife

Every year the, International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) celebrates the International Day of the Midwife on 5 May.
The theme for 2021 International Day of the Midwife is “Follow the Data: Invest in Midwives.”
The first International Day of the Midwife was celebrated in 1992.
The main objective of this day is to recognise the work of midwives and raise awareness about the status of midwives for the essential care they provide to mothers and their newborns.
