Rajasthan Budget 2020 - Gehlot Govt allocates Rs 39,524 crore for education, health and infra also on focus :

1. Rajasthan CM and Finance Minister Ashok Gehlot presented the second budget of his tenure in the Rajasthan Assembly.The Rajasthan budget is based on seven resolutions, including Nirogi Rajasthan and efforts are being made so that development is not interrupted in the state despite various challenges.

2. Presenting the budget for FY2020-21 in the Rajasthan Assembly, Gehlot referred to the public welfare measures in the last budget, and said that his government has tried to present a concrete action plan in this budget also. He levied no new tax proposals and announced to fill 53,151 new vacancies. He also announced rebate of Rs 130 crore in different kinds of taxes.

3. This is the second budget of the Congress government, which came to power in the state in December 2018. These resolutions are healthy Rajasthan, prosperous farmers, the welfare of women, children and elderly, capable labourers, youth-students, education, water power and roads, skills and technology. Chief Minister Gehlot who also holds finance portfolio said the Central government's revenue has reduced due to its wrong economic policies and Rajasthan is also suffering due to this.

4. Here are the Highlights from Rajasthan Budget 2020:

  • 22 monuments of Jodhpur, Ajmer, Alwar, Bundi, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Barmer, Churu, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jaisalmer, Sirohi and Udaipur will be revived. State Archives documents will be made online.
  • Rs 100 crore have been announced for the empowerment of women. Provision of more than Rs 14,000 crore for health services.
  • Townhall in Jodhpur and Karauli will be built at a cost of Rs 30 crore. The government also proposed big and modern auditorium for international level events in Jodhpur city.
  • It will be mandatory for hospitals to treat the injured person if taken to the nearest private hospital. Failure to do so will take necessary action against the hospital. If necessary, legal provisions will also be made.
  • The state government gives top priority to drinking water. The state government has a 50 per cent stake in the central government's Jal Jeevan Yojana. 90% help has been sought from the Center in this scheme.
  • 53,151 posts to be filled in governmental insitutions
  • Rajasthan gets about Rs 10,000 crore less share of tax estimated by the Centre from Rs 46,411 crore to Rs 36,039 crore.
  • No new taxes announced in the Rajasthan budget
  • MSMEs to get 100 per cent exemption from stamp duty
  • Dearness Allowance (DA) has been increased from 12 per cent to 17 per cent from July 1, 2019. Employees to get arrears from July 2019 onwards. 
  • Rs 75 crore allocated for promoting start-up ecosystem.
  • Education sector gets over Rs 39,524 crore.
  • 1,683 new police vehicles will be purchased.
  • Parent-teacher meetings will be compulsory in all government schools. 
  • Saturday will be "No Bag Day" in schools
  • Rajasthan iStart programme will be extended to BITS Pilani, MNIT, and IIT-Jodhpur
  • Public Works Department gets Rs 6,220 crore allocation.
  • Tourism sector gets Rs 100 crore allocation for its promotion and further strengthening of the tourism sector.
  • The budget proposes Rs 3 crore for gold medalists, Rs 2 crores for silver medalists in Olympic games.
  • Rs 7.2 core allocated to establish minority women hostels.
  • Rs 100 crore allocated for Nehru Bal Sanrakshan.
  • Health sector gets Rs 14,437 crore in Rajasthan Budget. 
  • Ashok Gehlot announces Rs 3,420 crore for farmers
  • Rs 100 crore allocated for nirog (healthy) Rajasthan.
  • Rajiv Gandhi e-content library facility will be started for offline and online video lecture in the college: Ashok Gehlot
  • 25 thousand new solar pumps will be installed in the state. Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Barmer, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Barmer, Ganganagar, Pali, Jalore, Sirohi will get irrigation system.
  • The health sector in Rajasthan will be further strengthened. Under this, PHC and CHC will be expanded. About Rs 15,000 crores will be spent on the construction of new medical colleges, the state government will have 40 per cent participation in it.
