CTET Marking Scheme for Paper-I
One mark is awarded for every correct answer in the exam. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers in the exam.
Nature & Standard of Questions in CTET Paper-I
Questions in paper-I are based on topics prescribed in NCERT syllabus for classes I-V. However, the difficulty level of questions can be upto secondary level.
- Questions in Child Development and Pedagogy subject of paper-I focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years
- Questions in Language-I focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction
- Questions in Language-II focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities. It may be noted that language-II should be different than language-I. Candidates need to choose any one language as language-I and other as language-II from the options available in the table below:

Qualifying Marks & Award of CTET Certificate
|
A person who scores 60% or more in the TET exam will be considered as TET pass.
|
|
School managements (Govt., local bodies, government aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to persons belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently abled persons, etc.in accordance with their extant reservation policy.
|
|
Qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.
|
Validity Period of CTET Certificate
|
The Validity Period of CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of the result for all categories. There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate.

|
A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her Score.

Similar to the marking scheme for paper-I, candidates are awarded one mark for every correct answer in the exam. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Questions in paper-II are based on topics prescribed in NCERT syllabus for classes VI-VIII. However, the difficulty level of questions could be upto senior secondary level.
- Questions in Child Development and Pedagogy subject of paper-II focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 11-14 years
- Questions in Language-I focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction
- Questions in Language-II focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities. It may be noted that language-II should be different than language-I. Candidates need to choose any one language as language-I and other as language-II from the options available in the table below:

CTET 2020 OMR Sheet Use
Since CTET is conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper based test, all candidates are given an Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet at the time of exam, which they need to fill to mark all the correct answers in the test. Check out some quick instructions for using the CTET 2020 OMR sheet at the time of the exam below:
- The OMR sheet will be placed inside a sealed test booklet. Candidates should take out the sheet from the booklet after the announcement from the exam invigilator.
- The code (A, B, C or D) printed on the OMR sheet will be the same as printed on the test booklet
- Candidates should not fold, write or leave any stray mark on the OMR sheet, Candidates should only write their roll number in the space provided on the OMR sheet.
- Candidates should fill all particulars in side-1 of the OMR sheet accurately with balck/blue ball point pen only. Particulars to be filled in side-1 of the OMR sheet are name, father's name, roll number, centre name, centre number and subject chosen in paper-II (if applicable).
- Along with side-1, candidates also need to fill all particulars in side-2 of the OMR sheet. Candidates should fill the particulars accurately with balck/blue ball point pen only. Particulars to be filled in side-2 of the OMR sheet are roll number, main test booklet number, language supplement booklet number, language supplement booklet code, subject chosen in paper-II (if applicable), language in which the questions are attempted and signature.
