The WHO estd. 1948 is a principal organ of the UNO and has 194 nations as its members. Further, it's divided into various regions for eg. North-west, southeast, middle-east etc. and these regions have a regional head and since 2014, dr.poonam khetrapal Singh is the regional head of the southeast region. The WHO is presided over by a director-general, who governs the organization and DG is assisted by several Deputies and one such deputy DG is Soumya Swaminathan, who also happens to be the first Indian to have ever held this position.
