Where did Kuchipudi, an eminent dance form, originate?
Kerala
Andhra Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh
Tamil Nadu
It originated in a village named Kuchipudi in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Kuchipudi is a dance-drama performance, with its roots in the ancient Hindu Sanskrit text of Natya Shastra. As it evident in temple sculpture, a highly spiritual dance form had existed since the 2nd century, but it was in the 14th century that Siddhendra Yogi, the father of Kuchipudi, formalized the art-form in his written treatise of Natyashastras (dance scriptures).
