Singapore Unveils One of World’s Biggest Solar Farms To Fight Climate Change
  • Singapore unveiled one of the world’s largest floating solar panel farms, which is spread over an area equivalent to 45 football fields and has the capacity to produce enough electricity to power the island’s five water treatment plants.
  • The project is part of efforts by the country to increase its solar energy production four times by 2025 to help tackle climate change.
  • The 60 megawatt-peak floating solar system is built at Tengeh Reservoir by Sembcorp Floating Solar Singapore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, in collaboration with Singapore Public Utilities Board.
  • The solar farm consists of 122,000 solar panels, on the 45-hectare (111.2 acres) site, making Singapore one of the few countries in the world to have a water treatment system fully powered by sustainable energy.
