Electoral analysis is...
the most important aspect of political study, because it deals with facts and figures.
the best way of predicting future political developments.
a valuable tool for researchers in Politics and related disciplines.
just a way of making the study of Politics seem more 'scientific' than it really is.
Politics is much more than the study of bare facts and figures, whatever logical positivists might think. Electoral analysis comes close to satisfying 'scientific' methodology, but that is certainly not the main reason why people undertake such studies. It usually helps to predict future political developments , but it relates to the past and needs to be supplemented with knowledge of more recent developments (along with inspired guesswork).
