How did Karl Marx understand politics?
As a way for one class to oppress another.
As a way of reaching mutually beneficial compromises.
As a natural product of human competitiveness.
As the only way to resolve class antagonisms
Marx thought that politics, as understood in class dominated societies, could never lead to 'mutually beneficial compromises' . Neither could it resolve class antagonisms ; the dominant economic class would always get its way. At the same time, politics could not be a natural product of human competitiveness because Marx did not believe that human beings were competitive by nature.
