The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has banned the sale of Endosulfan and 19 other insecticides in the state as it has harmful effects on mankind and environment. The ban has come into effect from 1st February 2018. Endosulfan is a chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticide of the cyclodiene subgroup which acts as a contact poison in a wide variety of insects and mites.
