The sum of 3 consecutive even number is 40 more than the average of these numbers. Which of the following is the 2nd largest number ?

x+x+2+x+4 = 40+(x+x+2+x+4)/3
3x+6 = 40+ (3x+6)/3
(9x+18 – 3x-6)/3= 40
6x + 12 = 120
x = 108/6 = 18
Therefore, second largest number is 18+2 = 20
