B and D have worked for the same number of days when A, B, C, D and E worked together to finish the complete work. When only B and D work together they are able to 10 days. In how many days C and D do the whole work together?
10 days
12 days
14 days
15 days
16 days
Let B and D worked for x days B did 33 (1/3) =1/3 work in x days=> whole work in 3x days D did the work in 100-(20+ 33(1/3)+20+10)=16 (2/3)=1/6 work in x days=> whole work in 6x days now given B and D together in 10 days solve and get B takes 15 days and D takes 30 days Hence C and D together will take 20*30/50=12 days
Hence, option 2 is the correct answer.
