A boy goes to his school from his house at a speed of 3 km/hr and returns at a speed of 2 km/hr. If he takes 5 hours in going and coming, the distance between his house and school is ?
5 km
5.5 km
6 km
6.5 km
Since the distance travelled by him is same in both the cases, So
The Speed ratio is inverse to the Time ratio.
Speed Ratio => 3 : 2
Time Ratio => 2 : 3
Total time taken = 5 hrs.
So 5 units -------> 5 hrs
Time taken in the 1st and 2nd case is 2 hrs and 3 hrs respectively.
Distance can be found with any of the case.
D = S * T
D = 3 * 2 = 6 km
