In how many ways 3 Mathematics books, 4 History books, 3 Chemistry books and 2 Biology books can be arranged on a shelf so that all books of the same subjects are together?
41472
41528
47582
41789
It is by default assumed that All the Maths books are distinct from each other. Similar is the case for rest of the books.
We Can make 4 units of them like this:-
MMM HHHH CCC BB ------- -------- ----- -----
And these 4 units can be arranged in 4! ways.
Further They are arranged themselves in 3!, 4!, 3! and 2! ways respectively.
So the required no. of arrangements = 4! × 3! × 4! × 3! ×2! = 41472
