Let the numbers be a, b, c and d.
a +b+c+d = 64 ----- eq 1
a+3 = b – 3 = 3c = d/3
∴ b = a+6, c = a/3 +1 , d = 3a + 9
Substituting these values in eq1:-
a+(a+6)+(a/3 +1) + (3a +9) = 64
a = 9
c = 4 (the smallest number)

d – c = 36 – 4 = 32

Hence, option 3 is the correct answer.
