Find the equation of the line parallel to the line passing through (5,7) and (2,3) and having x intercept as -4.
3y = 4x -16
3y = 4x +16
Slope of the given line = (7 – 3) / (5 – 2) = 4/3.
So the slope of the required line is also 4/3.
One point on this line is (-4, 0).
Hence the equation of the line is
y – 0 = 4/3 (x + 4) ⇒ 3y = 4x +16.
