The chance of winning the race of Ravi is 7/8 and that of Fenu is 2/9. What is the probability that the race will be won by Ravi or Fenu?

Let P(R) be the probability that the race will be won by Ravi and P(F) be the probability that the race will be won by Fenu.

Therefore P(R)=7/8

and P(F)=2/9

Therefore the probability that the race will be won by Ravi or Fenu=P(R)+P(F)

=7/8+2/9

=[63+16]/72

=79/72
