Two trains 400 m and 350 m long are running on parallel rails at the rate of 19 kmph and 34 kmph respectively. In how much time will they cross each other. If they are running in the same direction?
100 sec
120 sec
160 sec
180 sec
Relative speed = (34 - 19) = 15 kmph (As the trains are moving in same direction) ⇒ (15 x 5/18) m/sec ⇒ (25/6)m/sec. Total distance covered = Sum of the lengths of trains = 750 m. So, time taken to pass the man = (750 x 6/25)sec ⇒ 180 sec.
