Ten years ago, P was half of Q's age. If the ratio of their present ages is 3:4, what will be the total of their present ages?

Let present age of P and Q be 3x and 4x respectively.
Ten years ago, P was half of Q's age
⇒(3x−10) = 1/2(4x−10)

⇒6x−20 = 4x−10

⇒2x=10 ⇒ x=5
Total of their present ages
=3x + 4x = 7x = 7×5 = 35
