A monkey climbing up a pole ascends 10 metres and slips 2 metres in alternate minutes, If the pole is 63 metres high, how long will it take to reach the top of the pole?
14 min. 42 sec.
15 min. 20 sec.
16 min. 40 sec.
12 min. 40 sec.
Monkey ascends (10-2) = 8 mts. in 2 mins. So for 63 metres, the monkey will ascend 7 times =7×8 = 56 mts. Time to cover 56 mts. = 56 /8 × 2=14minutes Remaining height = 7 mts. In the 15 minutes, the monkey starts ascending the pole. Time taken to cover 7 mts. = 60/10 × 7 = 420 /10 = 42secs. Time taken to ascend the pole = 14 min. 42 secs.
Hence, option 1 is the correct answer.
